To help the Parliament to transact its voluminous heterogeneous day to day business, an inbuilt system of Parliamentary Committees has been developed. These Committees examine each and every issue referred to it indepth and make recommendations for disposal of the Parliament business.

Parliament committees are of different types- Adhoc Standing Committee, Standing Committees. The important Committees which act as a Watch dog over the executive are Departmentally Related Standing Committees such as Committee on Home Affairs, Committee on Energy etc. These Committees also appoint their Consultative/Sub-Committees to examine threadbare the individual issues.
